This is the text only version of the Hear and There home page
Several pages have text versions, they are nested in the sub menu for that page.

H&T is an adventure program that is centered on detailed descriptions.  Many of the places we go are accessible for people with disabilities.  This site contains programs you can download and listen.  It also has pages labeled "How To" that will show you how to receive the program as a podcast or get updates on Twitter.  Check out our DEEP TWEET poems on the Hot Pod page.  We have found accessible software and hardware that work with screen readers. We have produced the H&T website and Audio Magazine to be both interesting and accessible for blind as well as sighted people.  We hope that you will participate in the H&T experience by telling us about your adventures and accessibility stories.  Someone else may want to visit the same places.

If you use a screen reader you can click here to listen to the overview.

The program is hosted by Dave Uhlman,  a visually impaired Accessibility Consultant, who gives his unique perspective on museums, nature walks, art shows or just about anyplace he can visit. Dave can put words to the visual so the listener can see and enjoy the experience.

"Hear & There" is a program that promotes involvement in the community. We visit venues with accessible features, provide detailed descriptions, and encourage listeners to attend and participate in the events. This show is one of the few places were venues can publicize their accessibility features to the public.

The show recently visited the Cincinnati Zoo to pet Cheetah cubs. We attended the King Tut Exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago. One winter day we went for a walk on ancient Hopewell Indian earthworks. We also interviewed the Chicago Art Institute about their innovative "Tac Tiles' tour for the blind.

We invite you to listen to our adventures and possibly find someplace you might like to visit.

If you have a possible program idea for your area contact me on this Link.

H&T logo description; the logo is an abstract Cardinal  in flight.  It is round and a Yin-Yang pattern represents the motion of a bird’s wings in flight. The shape is basicly an 0 with an S in the middle. The area around the S forms 2 shapes that look like tear drops, swirling.  In the center are more abstract lines in a thick s shape that represent the birds body. the include an eye, beak, and feather plume on the head.  This is a trait which identify the image as a Cardinal. This image is from a pottery design of the Swift Creek Culture 300ad in Georgia. Thanks to Frankie Snow, for the use of the Copyright  1998
